British (UK) Passport Application 

(New Passport Application or Passport Renewal)

Please follow the procedure accordingly to avoid processing delay. If you do not send the correct items your passport will be delayed.

Your Passport will be valid for ten years. Upon expiration, you will have to obtain a new passport.

If you would like for us to hand-carry your passport to the Embassy of United Kingdom in Washington DC, please send us the following:

A) Letter of Authorization - print 3 copies (This must be filled out using blue or red ink. Black ink is not allowed) -

B) Complete Travel the World Visas Service Order Form

C) Two Passport Photos - Do NOT use vending machine or your own photos (IMPORTANT:  please click here for photo specifications).  2" x 2" full faced color photographs with a light, plain background and taken less than 6 months ago.  Teeth cannot be shown in photographs. Do not smile or grin.   Look directly at the camera (frontal view).

NOTE: The person who counter signed the application must countersign one photograph. A notary public or a relative or a housewife is not acceptable as a counter-signatory.  

D) Proof of UK Citizenship  - Original proof of British citizenship (e.g. expired/expiring passport, or full long form UK Birth certificate issued within 3 months from time of birth)

E) Smart Passport Application Form  - use this form ifyou are applying for a United Kingdom passport abroad and the applicant is a British citizen, British Overseas Territories citizen, British Overseas citizen, British subject, British protected person, British National (Overseas).  This can be used for adult, child and BNO applications.

F) Lost or Stolen Notification (if required) - MUST be submitted if you can NOT submit your most recent passport

• If your most recent passport was lost and stolen, you must submit the Lost or Stolen Notification form in addition to the Smart Passport Application Form.

G) If applicable, original marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order to reflect name change

H) Travel Evidence (copy of plane ticket showing foreign departure, OR copy of travel itinerary - from airline or travel agency with applicant name, travel date, flight information) - applicable for rush application

I) Letter of Consent (if applicable) - Applicants age between 16 and 18 years old MUST have a written parental consent of the issue of a new passport.

J) Declaration of Parents' Marriage (applicable for first time applicants only - must have original signature)

K) Photocopy of Your Green Card or U.S. Visa or U.S. Passport

• Please do not send your actual green card, as we cannot guarantee its safety while it is in the consulate.

• If you have a visa to be in the U.S. in your passport, photocopy it and clip the photocopy to the outside of the passport.  

L) Letter from a professional - someone that personally knows you, stating he/she knows you and indicate the # of years.  This must be on a business letterhead (applicable for first time or new applications).

M) United Kingdom Embassy’s Fee:

• For adults 16 or over the fee for the issuance of a 32 page passport is $244.00 OR $288.00 (48 page passport) 

• For children under 16 the fee for the issuance of a 32 page passport is $167.00 

  • Children's passports are valid for a maximum of 5 years. IF ISSUED BEFORE 26 MARCH 1998 THEY ARE EXTENDABLE (Form C2) FOR A FURTHER 5 YEARS FREE OF CHARGE (apart from postage). A FEE IS PAYABLE FOR EVERY CHILD’S 5 YEAR PASSPORT ISSUED AFTER 26 MARCH 1998. Young adults aged between 16 and 18 must have written parental consent for the issue of a new passport.

• Applicants between 16 and 18 years of age must have written parental consent for the issuance of a new passport.

NOTE:

• If you are applying to renew a passport which has been expired for more than ten years or you are applying to replace an old style blue British passport you may be required to provide additional supporting documentation and in some cases be interviewed.

• If your passport has been lost / stolen or is unavailable you must provide the address at which you were living when the passport was first issued, the next of kin details included on your previous passport application form and the name of the person who countersigned the original application. For additional identification purposes please send your US passport or an enlarged clear copy (front and back) of your US Alien Registration Card and driving license (if held).
