Visa Requirements for U.S. Citizens

Tourist

  • Valid and signed U. S. Passport (valid for at least 18 months with at least one blank visa page)  – photocopy is not acceptable
  • One (1) Visa Application Form completed and signed. The application form must have original signature and MUST BE NOTARIZED in the USA – effective April 3, 2015.
  • One (1) Passport type photograph (MUST be recently taken – within the last 3 months) – must be good quality with white background (no eyeglasses is allowed)
  • Letter from the Employer stating that the applicant is employed and will travel to Afghanistan as a tourist.
  • Computer generated flight itinerary
  • Travel the World Visas Service Order Form

May 28, 2015, the validity of the visa is at the discretion of the embassy.  The visa could be issued single entry for 3 months OR multiple entries for 1 year.  If you want a 1 year multiple entries, the company must be on the list of the Embassy of Afghanistan as under contract with the US Government – this list is provided by their Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  If you want to be included in the “list”, you have to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Afghanistan.

Official OR Diplomatic

  • Valid and signed U. S. Official or Diplomatic Passport (valid for at least 18 months with at least one blank visa page) – photocopy is not acceptable
  • One (1) Visa Application Form completed and signed. The application form must have original signature and MUST BE NOTARIZED in the USA – effective April 3, 2015.
  • One (1) Passport type photograph (MUST be recently taken – within the last 3 months) – must be good quality with white background (no eyeglasses is allowed)
  • Travel the World Visas Service Order Form
  • Government official letter (on official letterhead) addressed to the Embassy of Afghanistan (Visa Section, Washington DC).  The letter should state: name(s) of the applicant(s), nature and the duration of the trip, company to be visited in Afghanistan.  The letter should also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant’s living expenses and round trip transportation.  This letter must be signed by a supervisor.
